The Condition of the Ummah - Part 5

Living the Truth of Islam in an Age of Noise

There is no shortage of negative voices speaking about Islam today. We live in a world where deception often presents itself as truth, and where the media amplifies whatever narrative suits it. As a result, Islamophobia is not an accident—it is nurtured. Whether one is committed in worship or Muslim in name only, simply being Muslim is sometimes enough to be labelled an enemy.

Yet the heart of our identity remains the kalimah: Laa ilaha illallah Muhammadur Rasoolullah . There is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, and Muhammad is His final messenger. This truth alone unsettles those who prefer falsehood. Even in our current state of weakness, the ummah evokes fear. Allah reminds us in Surah al-Baqarah (2:217) that they will not stop trying to turn believers away from their faith. Strength or weakness does not change this reality.

Some believe that being a “moderate” Muslim makes them more acceptable. But the Qur’an teaches that their dissatisfaction lies not in our expression of faith, but in faith itself. The real lesson is not merely that opposition exists—it is that Muslims have not done enough to show the beauty of Islam. Instead, we have slowly absorbed the lifestyles around us, turning away from the values that once defined us.

Prayer, charity, fasting, pilgrimage, and modesty are now treated with suspicion, as though devotion is extremism. Yet these practices are the foundations of kindness, justice, community, and inner peace. Their purpose is to connect us to Allah while uplifting society. Still, there will always be people who oppose goodness simply because it exposes their deception.

The Qur’an speaks of such people: When they are told, “Do not spread corruption in the land,” they reply, “We are only peacemakers!” Indeed, it is they who are the corruptors… (2:11–12). We have seen this pattern repeated—those who stoke conflict often blame Muslims for the fires they themselves ignite. Media bias reinforces these narratives, shaping public perception long before truth emerges.

But Islam remains a religion of peace. Peace does not mean silence in the face of injustice; it requires a foundation of fairness and truth. Only those who fear justice will fear Islam.

Some non-Muslims who read Qur’an selectively and out of context, will learn, through experience, the beauty and peace of Islam. For that to happen, does require that Muslims rise up to fulfil their responsibility. Just a cursory glance at the world, and the suffering in Palestine and Sudan, as examples, shows that Muslims have not fulfilled their responsibility.

Hatred toward Islam will not vanish simply because we wish to be accepted. But Allah’s help is near. To benefit from it, we must return to Him—repenting, learning, and living according to His guidance. When Muslims embody the message of Islam, truth becomes clearer than any propaganda.

Islam is peace, and peace begins with us.

The Condition of the ummah - Part 3

Seeking Allah’s Love in a World That Distracts

Death is the one truth we all know yet often ignore. No matter who you are, it will reach you. Still, many of us live as though this life is all there is — chasing wealth, status, and comfort, while forgetting the eternal home that awaits. Those who live to please Allah long for paradise, a place far beyond human imagination. But even with that knowledge, our hearts remain attached to the temporary — a love that fades, a life that ends.

This attachment isn’t limited to the ordinary person. It touches the rich, the powerful, and even, at times, religious leaders. The Prophet Muhammad reminded us that true love for Allah is shown by following him. Allah says in the Qur’an (3:31 – interpretation of the meaning):

“Say, [O Prophet], ‘If you truly love Allah, then follow me; Allah will love you and forgive your sins. For Allah is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.’”

Love is more than words — it’s obedience and devotion. When you love someone, you want to please them. Imagine that it is Allah who loves you — would you not strive to be on your best behaviour, to earn His pleasure every moment? Yet, look at our daily lives. How much of our time is spent away from His remembrance? How often do we choose careers or businesses that ignore His laws? Some seek profit at the cost of ethics, while others remain silent when truth must be spoken. Even leaders, who should uphold justice, often align themselves with those who oppose Islam. Who then truly loves Allah and seeks His love?

Of course, not everyone is the same. Each person’s love for Allah differs. But without actively seeking His love, we lose our purpose. We were created to call to good and forbid evil, to be agents of justice and peace. This mission begins at home — in our hearts, our families, and our communities. We don’t yet see it on the world stage.

Look at the suffering of our brothers and sisters in Palestine. Their struggle reminds us that life is fragile and death certain. But it also exposes where our loyalties lie. Are we content to watch in silence as injustice is the order of the day, or will we turn inward and strive to become people whom Allah loves — those who bring change through faith, compassion, and action?

So don’t ask, “What difference can I make?” Ask instead, “Will this please Allah? Will He be pleased with me?” If each of us begins with sincere change within ourselves, Allah will raise true leaders who will bring justice and peace. You will need to move out of your comfort zone. The journey to paradise starts with a single step — the step toward Allah’s love.

The Condition of the Ummah - Part 1

Are you a failure because you failed at something before — perhaps an exam or a marriage? For the believer, those are not failures, but tests, lessons, and reminders. You are not immune to shortcomings, for only Allah is perfect. He is the One who created everything, including you and me, and to Him we shall all return. He is the Most Merciful, and the believer does not despair in His mercy. Rather, he repents and returns to Allah, seeking closeness to Him and striving to earn His love.

Allah tells us in the Qur’an (39:53):

Say, ˹O Prophet, that Allah says,˺ “O My servants who have exceeded the limits against their souls! Do not lose hope in Allah’s mercy, for Allah certainly forgives all sins. He is indeed the All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.”

The real failure is to not repent and seek the mercy of Allah.

Today, many are analysing the first phase of the peace agreement between the Palestinians of Gaza and the Zionists. Questions arise — some spoken, others unspoken — about the catalyst for the genocide that took place over the past two years. Various explanations will be offered, even drawing comparisons to the Treaty of Hudaibiyah. Yet the more serious question is: what about us? What role have we played, or failed to play? Before blaming others, introspection is needed. What will be our condition before Allah on the Day of Reckoning?

If we fail that test on that Day, then it may well be because of our condition right now. It is not enough to believe that we are “the best community raised for mankind” when we neglect what follows in the same ayah of the Qur’an.

Allah says in the Qur’an (3:110):

You are the best community ever raised for humanity—you encourage good, forbid evil, and believe in Allah.

It is the responsibility of those who claim to belong to this best community to enjoin good and forbid evil. Collectively, are we not failing in this duty? And on an individual level, are we truly playing our role in being of that best community? Therein lies the measure of success or failure.

Is our failure to come to the aid of the Palestinians not, in reality, a consequence of our failure to live by the laws of Allah?

Before anyone — especially non-Muslims reading this — suggests that Sharee‘ah can be implemented fully in lands ruled by non-Muslims, that is not the point being made here. It is the responsibility of majority Muslim nations to implement Sharee‘ah. Nevertheless, each of us must strive to live according to it — following the Qur’an and Sunnah and advising others with goodness.

When we do so sincerely, we will earn the love and mercy of Allah. Success belongs to such people — both in this life and in the Hereafter.

To summarise: we failed the Palestinians because we failed ourselves. Yet this failure is only temporary — if we return to Allah in repentance. If we then live up to being the “best community for mankind,” we will improve our own condition, call others to good, and work to prevent evil.

The Help of Allah is near - Part 7

Prophet Muhammad warned that the thing he fears for his ummah is that the riches of the world will open to them, they will compete for it and it will destroy them.

Amr ibn Awf reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “By Allah, it is not poverty that I fear for you, but rather I fear you will be given the wealth of the world, just as it was given to those before you. You will compete for it just as they competed for it, and it will ruin you just as it ruined them.” [Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī and Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim]

Is it not true that many Muslim nations, blessed with wealth, still struggle to uplift their people? Is it not true that Muslims, in general, have inclined to the comforts of this world, showing greater inclination to competing than to uplift?

It is easy to point fingers at wealthy Arab nations and ask, ‘Why are our brothers and sisters in Gaza still starving when feeding the hungry is among the best of deeds?’ Yet, we must also look inward. What about our own communities? Have we truly done enough to lift the burdens around us? In Cape Town, as an example, crime is high. Perhaps, the gang wars are rather dangerous. But how is it that we do not do enough crime prevention in our communities in general? How is it that businesses do not forge a plan to protect themselves and their customers? What if Muslim business leaders in Cape Town united for safety initiatives? Wouldn’t that be a small reflection of the unity we call for regarding Palestine? Have we forgotten the reason and purpose of creation? Is it merely to traverse the earth and accumulate wealth that is temporary anyway?

The reason for alluding to this local problem while the focus is still Palestine and Aqsa, is that there is a pattern in the behaviour of the Muslims. We have become weak or maybe careless. How much of our principles have we forsaken so that we may earn that extra dollar or hold onto a position of relative power or status? Just like we let the robber steal from our neighbour in broad daylight, the Zionist warplanes cross over our airspace to bomb a neighbouring country. Our strength has never been in copying foreign ideologies. It has always been in holding firmly to the Qur’an and Sunnah. That’s where our true dignity lies. Qatar was dealt a blow by the Zionist bombing. The Palestinians gained a victory. Yet, the response to being attacked will be telling as to our reliance upon Allah. Will we, the Muslim ummah, be the recipients of Allah’s pleasure or will we be questioned for our apathy?

Muslims have a duty to command with good and to prevent the evil. It is not merely policy but needs action. Had we that strong inclination to be the “khalifah” as Allah described us to the angels, we will act in the ideal manner to bring betterment to society and the world at large.

The help of Allah is near. Call on Him sincerely!

End Game - Part 3

The appearance of Dajjaal and the Ten horsemen

The appearance of dajjal is inevitable. The appearance of dajjal, the false messiah, will coincide with the reappearance of Eesa, the son of Mary (aka Yeshu, Jesus) – on whom be peace. The Jews plotted to kill Eesa (upon whom be peace). They killed him not, nor crucified him.

The appearance of Dajjal and the Ten horsemen

In a lengthy hadith reported in Sahih Muslim, Prophet Muhammad describe the events at that time. The following is part of the hadith:

…And they would fight such a fight the like of which would not be seen, so much so that even if a bird were to pass their flanks, it would fall down dead before reaching the end of them. (There would be such a large scale massacre) that when counting would be done, (only) one out of a hundred men related to one another would be found alive. So what can be the joy at the spoils of such war and what inheritance would be divided ! They would be in this very state that they would hear of a calamity more horrible than this. And a cry would reach them: The Dajjal has taken your place among your off- spring. They will, therefore, throw away what would be in their hands and go forward sending ten horsemen, as a scouting party. Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: I know their names and the names of their forefathers and the colour of their horses. They will be best horsemen on the surface of the earth on that day or amongst the best horsemen on the surface of the earth on that day. [Sahih Muslim]

The immediate question is whether we are heading into the period as we speak. Already there is huge devastation, genocide. But this will likely escalate into something much bigger and increase the number of fatalities. Perhaps, the glimmer of hope, if one can call it that, is that these battles will be between real combatants and not include the women, children and the elderly. Nevertheless, this group, and specifically women and children, will be the target of ad-dajjal.

His features

Blind in one eye.  In a hadith reported by Hudhaifah: "The Messenger of Allah said: 'The Dajjal (False Messiah) is blind in his left eye and has abundant hair. With him will be a Paradise and a Hell, but his Hell is Paradise and his Paradise is Hell.'" - Sunan ibn Majah [Grading - Sahih]

'Abdullah bin 'Umar RA said: One day the Messenger of Allah mentioned Al-Masih Dajjal (the Antichrist) in the presence of the people and said, "Verily, Allah is not one-eyed but Al-Masih Ad-Dajjal is blind in the right eye which looks like a swollen grape." [Sahih Al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim]

Anas narrated: The Prophet said, "Allah did not send any prophet but that he warned his nation of the one-eyed liar (Ad-Dajjal). He is one-eyed while your Lord is not one-eyed, The word 'Kafir' (unbeliever) is written between his two eyes." [Sahih Al-Bukhari]

It is interesting how the like of characters like Shrek are found to be adorable. Remember Pokemon and all these weird demon creatures that you played with and you let your kids watch on television, etc. Dajjal will not be something or someone with attractive features, yet people will flock towards him. Their deception is already running through your veins. It is real. No one is spared except that you follow the guidance of Prophet Muhammad to the tee. Then, by the Mercy and permission of Allah, you will safe.

Indelible Ink

Mind control. Most people don’t know what it really is which is likely why they end up being products of mind control. Imagine voting in an election and the elected officials are not accountable to you. It happens all the time, doesn’t it. There are memes about it, yet here you are, with a mark of indelible ink on your thumb after your recent vote in the South African national elections.

For Muslims, the Palestinian issue played a role in the elections. Or perhaps it did not. The openly Zionist party still had many Muslims voting for it. Their argument will be about service delivery and corruption while the very fact that there is a Zionist element in play, smacks of corruption (for those who understand). Shall we unpack this? Shall we talk about genocide and more? Of yeah, we can unpack this. This voter has been gulped up by the system, more than most. And in case you voted for another party because of the Palestinian issue, then please refer back to some of the memes like the wolf telling the sheep that after the election he will be a vegetarian. Also refer back to the fact that some are openly Zionist while others just play you. There are one or two parties who are more genuine but that the system will always dictate to them, means that their success will be limited, or they will be made to fail. Should you have voted or not? If you did vote, “why did you vote?” should at least have guided you for which party to vote. But alas, you were shortsighted and selfish when voted for the openly Zionist supporting party. That is the lowest rung on the ladder, if on the ladder at all. Others voted perhaps taking to the principle that to vote (in a democracy) is to protect the interests of the Muslims. However, that also had different levels beyond the genocide of the Palestinians. If Muslims, and South Africans in general, are worse off than before the election, then you would have wasted your vote. All this may point to the lack of unity in the Muslim community or, more so, a lack of proper understanding. This can be unpacked quite a bit, but it does point to you as being the starting point.

The system in which we live is not the system ordained by Allah. While returning to this, in full and as a community, is not an overnight process, it is in your own understanding and your way of life that you determine the direction in which you are going.  Should you not supplicate to Allah to be part of the solution and not to fall into the traps and false promises of those who are ruling over you. Neither to place rulers over us that will oppress us in any way.

All eyes on Rafah!

Are you reading from the wrong script?

Reading from the wrong script invariably means that you will get your lines wrong. You will miss the point, and in an examination, your will lose marks. Leaders ought to get it right more often than wrong. Sadly, real leaders, guides and teachers are few and far between.

Reading from the wrong script means you will get your lines wrong. The system under which the world, in general, lives have shaped your thoughts and ideas through many avenues including the education and political systems. It is just over a century since the demise of the last caliphate, viz. the Ottoman caliphate. That it was allowed to fall, with help from the inside, and never yet been restored, tells a story. A painful story. While everyone is worried about the elections in various countries, including USA, the truth is that the outcome is the same. The outcome is the same no matter who wins because the elected officials are not beholden to the people, but to their masters who remain “anonymous”. Ultimately, everyone is answerable to Allah and your misdeeds will not go unnoticed, and neither will the misdeeds of each and everyone. Thus, they plan, but Allah too plans, and Allah is the best of planners. However, what He, Allah, has revealed as guidance is the true script and you will be fluffing your lines if you read from the wrong script. In previous blogs (see list below), the red heifers were mentioned. The time for their sacrifice draws every closer, it may be a matter of weeks. The Jews have their plans. Their expected result is to slaughter the heifer and then proceed to build the third temple on the site of Masjid-ul-Aqsa. The building of the temple is important for the appearance of their Messiah, Ad-dajjal, the Anti-Christ. Muslims and Christians await the return of Masih-ibn-Maryam, ‘Eesa, Yeshu (or in the apparent Romanised name “Jesus”). The Muslims expect the appearance of Al-Mahdi before the return of Yeshu (peace be upon him). Wait, lets get back to Al-Aqsa and the third temple. The world, including the Arabs and Muslims in general, except a few, have been spectators to the G.e-n-o-c- I – d – e  in the occupied territory. The question that may arise very soon, if it is not already in the minds of Muslims, their monarchs and presidents, is what will be the Muslim reaction if anyone dares to destroy Masjid-al-Aqsa.

Those who wish to learn and do the right thing should learn from the right script (Quran and hadith) and abandon their reliance on their “western” education and script. Only a few will hold onto the truth. Others will be “picky and choosy” or totally abandon the truth and fluff their lines. Learn, ask questions and discuss, only for the sake of Allah.

Important dates on the calendar

How focused are you? Have you been a little distracted?

Painting the town red on Valentine’s Day. That is how it works, isn't it? These types of days are, at best, distractions from what really matters and how you should really live your life. In reality, it is such a lie that you should feel disgust at it. Of course, there are things like Mother’s Day and Father's Day, and many others. Introducing these matters, commercialised at that, is part of a system that takes you away from the truth. The truth can only be called the truth when it is pure and untainted. Islam is a complete way of life. When you make things important in your life, which is not from the religion of Islam, then you have fallen into the trap. There are things which you may find important but are permissible and therefore not a problem. However, the trap is far and wide, and few can claim to be free from it. How do you counter the influence of the Zionists and the minions of the antichrist when you, almost willingly, if not totally willingly, fall into their trap. The system of Islam is clear, and it is a way of life which Muslims must enter into completely. The more you engage in those matters which are foreign to Islam and which aim is to corrupt you, the weaker you become in fighting the enemy of Allah.

To those who wish to change Valentine’s Day to Palestine Day, have lost the plot. You cannot change a wrong by redressing it in the hope that it becomes something good. The truth must be untainted by wrong and sinful speech and actions. Such attempts to redress falsehood as truth must be rejected outright. As for the red heifer, according to the Jews, it is a sign of the coming of the Antichrist. Thus, it is important to clearly be in the right camp when the antichrist does appear. Will he appear soon? Allah knows best. What you and I should do, is make sure that we and our families are firmly rooted on the truth and that this will continue for generations to come. What an awesome legacy to leave.

The belief in Allah is incomplete without the disbelief in falsehood.

You are entrenching the plot

What if the Israelis are right?

I know many of you go to great lengths to differentiate between Zionism and Judaism. I think that that is a discussion to be had, but not today. It is not really that important. You are more important. For all your fighting Zionism, you have bought into their system, proudly proclaiming the system and defending the system. On certain points you will argue that what you do, does not conflict with your Islam and the shari’ah. What are you not arguing for or promoting? You defended yourself in relation to your lifestyle while you did not offer Islam as your lifestyle. This is a warning for me as it is for everyone else. Indeed, many have become ritualistic Muslims and then even ceremonial Muslims. Your thinking has been tainted and these views are with which you are painted. It is important and long overdue that these matters are unpacked because people are losing their eemaan (faith) and their Islam. As things are unfolding, it is ever increasingly difficult to talk about making hijrah (migration/emigration) to a Muslim country as the doors to evil and corruption are opened by their rulers.

In Islam there is permissibility for societal norms and trends as long as it does not conflict with Islamic law itself. Thus, it can be argued that the age of marriage is not documented in Islam except that it is permissible to marry when the age of puberty is reached. However, the current norm is that the dunya (wordly) life is placed first before the protection of the youngsters and the community itself. Living inside the confines of the system must be limited to exactly those matters which are beyond your control at this moment in time, e.g. schooling finishes generally at the age of eighteen before you can attend a tertiary institution and gain some reasonable qualification. But what is at the end of that qualification? Leaving that aside for now, the age factor dominates our lives. Then that thing called 21st. You have shaped your life and given importance to matters which does impact your faith. Here’s where you have to do further analysis. Suffice to say, that while you are constrained by the system, in which you find yourself, on some matters. Definitely, you have adopted customs that is not of Islam while it is easy to avoid. To beat the system, you have to at least forego those practices that are totally “optional” and carry no benefit, but perhaps harm.

So, how is it that Israel is possibly right? Well, your actions speak to it. Your acceptance of the system speak to it. That Zionists are in all strategic positions in the global and local scenario and are thus able to create and bear influence on the system, means that your following the system is nothing but following Zionist philosophy.

The discussion must be had to extricate ourselves from the system. The start is to reject as much of it as possible.

 ..... to be continued

Why it's Trump

Only the blissfully ignorant will ignore what I am about to say. Sure, I have a lot to say, but I will keep this one brief.

2024 is election year, both in South Africa and in the United States of America. People malign Donald Trump for being a racist and Joe Biden as the Zionist. What is the difference? That is rhetorical, in case you did not know. So, as to the Filistinian issue, do not hold your breath. But that is just it. In a world of deception, you cannot see everything as black and white. What is important is to join the dots. The dots between the many world events and happenings, especially over the last few years. Sure, you can look at some things and call it greed. It is better understood if you think a little deeper. What is greed and why? If you do not comprehend, then it is not a problem. It only becomes a problem if you don’t ask questions, if you don’t learn while, of course, you may disagree at points. As to the South African elections, then the view, earlier in 2023, was that the ANC may not garner 50% of the vote. Now that problem seems to have disappeared with the ANC touted to remain in power. What has changed?

Around the time of the BRICS summit in South Africa in 2023, a certain Victoria Nuland, career diplomat and US Acting Deputy Secretary of State and Under Secretary for Political Affairs, visited South Africa. Please read up about her. Just a quick point, that her Jewish husband, Robert Kagan, wrote to George W Bush immediately after 911 and called on America to attack Iraq and remove Saddam Hussein even if there was no evidence linking Iraq to the 911 attack. These are the people of influence that you may be overlooking. So was her role to disrupt BRICS or to ensure South Africa remains key to both sides? And why is South Africa key? Then not long after, talk of ANC not getting 50% +1 of the vote disappeared over the horizon. Back to the comparison of the US politics to South African politics, then ultimately the President and ruling party are controlled. Democracy is a waste of your breath in discussing the merits of voting for the ANC or whichever party. A short note will not do justice to the topic but suffice it to say that the future looks gloomy because, as a start, everything is not as it seems. The real state capture is happening now, and Jacob Zuma was an easy target to be framed. He may not be innocent, but South Africa is experiencing worse now.

Join the dots and continue to debate intelligently or just continue to walk blindly.
