The help of Allah is near - Part 1

70 thousand Palestinians trapped in northern Gaza face starvation, extermination in one of the largest genocidal campaigns in modern history

The is much to talk about that there seems to be too little time for that. You cannot drop your guard and, least of all, your God. Yet, everything is related to the Middle East, Palestine to be exact. When satan was ordered to bow down to Adam (peace be upon him), he refused. Was or is he above the law? Nay, he has been given respite.

The primary aim of the United Nations is to maintain international peace and security. Yet here we are in 2025, and one of its members in the Middle East, Israel, has failed to subject themselves to UN Resolutions against them. While the UN is toothless because its setup is less than ideal, there is a God. Some of these players may not believe in God, but He is true, and he has given them respite, much like He has given satan respite. The victims are rewarded with paradise, but the perpetrators, they have given more rope in their trespass.  The voices of the oppressed, the voices of the people of Palestine, the voices of the people of Gaza must be heard. It should ring in your ears so that you may act for justice. The UN won’t act. As always, Allah is the one to whom we supplicate.

Imagine standing in line for food, starving, then not only do you stare death in the face from starvation, but too from the killing machinery of those who claim to provide aid to you. There is no food. There are no medical supplies. There are no hospitals. The Israelis have questioned the humanity of Iran for bombing a hospital in Tel Aviv. Absurd is too mild a word for one making that statement while destroying over thirty hospitals in Gaza. We feel helpless in our efforts to support the people of Gaza. Our humanitarian aid is not reaching them. The least we can do is speak out against the injustice and the oppression they are facing.

The call to boycott certain products loses some effect when our business-people still look to make profits off products from entities supporting the occupiers. At the end of the day, even if you stand alone, you must stand for justice. There are so many examples of how we should keep calling to good, that is what we must do. Calling to good, in this case, necessitates pointing out the gen- o – ci dal behaviour of the Zionists.

No Muslim can ever be antisemitic because Quran is a semitic language. Those who call you an antisemite for standing with the oppressed people of Palestine, is blatantly lying and it is slander. There are Christian Palestinians too and they are not spared any different to the Muslim. We are all in it together. How many messages like this have you read and closed without sharing? We all need to do more. One click is the easiest action. Let’s make a difference.

What about the ceasefire - we take a look at that soon!

The Line in the sand - Part 10

Abandoning Hajj

The world may be in turmoil. But Muslims appear to be in greater turmoil. So much can be read into this last statement, that it begs for deeper understanding. Muslims are to take the lead in calling to good and preventing evil. Generally, Muslims are at fault in their failure to uphold this and then there are specific situations when the general Muslim population may have some excuse.

The re-establishment of the Caliphate is important. Is this merely supposed to happen at the End of time? And how close is the world to that time? As mentioned previously, Quds plays a role in the Caliphate. The devastation caused in those lands are continuing unabated. Does the Muslim world show that it is colonised and hence its subjugation? Do not get carried away with the fanfare of the recent Trump Middle Eastern “tour”. The usual American rah-rah to go with their leader who blows his own trumpet anyway, must be taken with a pinch of salt. This simply means that whatever agreements were reached, go back many years, and is now confirmed as news. The numbers and other details are immaterial. The reflection is upon us that Muslims too, the world over, is subjugated. And therein lies a simple question, “Are Muslims voluntarily being subjugated?”. The answer lies in the line on the sand and whatever lines of deviation Muslims follow. For is it not in our general disobedience to Allah that we are being tested without what appears to be any way to defend Quds and/or to establish a caliphate?

The principles of Islam are five. The rulings concerning these are clear and each and every Muslim must strive to fulfil it. Hajj is one of those pillars of Islam. Corrupt rulers, corrupt Muslim rulers have lived before, and the pilgrimage was never in question. Hajj must continue as it is the one pillar that physically bring people from all over the world together in one place. Hajj is that period that the entire world is focused on Makkah and its precincts. The call to pilgrimage was first made by Prophet Ibrahim – peace be upon him - upon the instruction of Allah. The pilgrimage is one that the enemies of Islam acknowledge as key and a reflection of Islam. While it continues when Muslims are weak, then consider the greater impact when the Muslims are strong. Non-Muslims acknowledge this. Thus, any call to abandon it, is filled with emotion but has no basis.  Even during the misguided lockdown period in 2020, hajj took place (more on the topic of lockdown at another time, but know that the same people who brought the lockdown are massacring our brothers and sisters in the land of Quds). Can you really fix something by abandoning a prescribed act of worship?

The question of which line you are following seems simple, yet you and I may be tainted. You cannot claim to be on the straight path while crawling into the lizard hole. Should you not stick to the basics, and travel along this straight line, light and focused?

The line in the sand: Part 9

Caliphate

The caliphate is necessary and important for Muslims. Others will argue against it, saying that such talk is emotional and without basis. I will not spend time on that point directly but address the issue from the viewpoint that the nation is leaderless.

The first point to consider is that Islam does not confine itself to man-made geographical borders. We consider ourselves one nation under the banner of “Laa ilaaha ilallah MuhammadurRasoolullah” (There is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, Muhammad is His messenger). A nation ought to have a leader, and it did for thirteen hundred years. You may argue that, for the most part, they were not righteous and there was corruption. However, does the contrast of “independent” states with its own rulers suggest that righteousness is the order of the day and that no leader is corruptible? There is that one little need to reflect on the demise of the caliphate. In order to do that, you will need to open the history books and consider the landscape, especially the period leading up to that fateful declaration that “the Caliphate is no more”. World War 1 had just finished. The colonies of the Europeans were ill at ease. Yes, that word “colon-ies” had to crop up. Colonies are places that were colonised? And what is colonisation? Something rather distasteful and the mildest form of it is called subjugation. And had you analysed that word, every one of its meanings should bring forth such disgust that you rather would wish to believe that humans cannot do that to other humans. Here we are, at the next phase of colonisation where there is apparent independence and sovereignty given to countries on a new map. The history of the last century.

In a previous post, we alluded to end times, meaning the end of the world. On a global scale it certain seems to be heading that way fast. But we always reflect on ourselves, the individual, the family, the community, until we get to the global situation. The line in the sand indicates that there in one straight line, then there are so many other lines along which many people will deviate. Of course, the immediate focus is on the serious matter that of the Muslims are those who may deviate. In a narration of Prophet Muhammad , he refers to Muslims following the ways of the non-Muslim, specifically the Jew and Christian, that even were they to crawl into a lizard hole, then some will follow them into it. In one way, you could argue that Muslims, to a degree, lost part of their global identity at the fall of the caliphate. However which way you want to see it, it is still up to you to stay on the straight line in the sand. Ultimately, those who remain on this straight line will soon rejoice at the reinstatement of the Caliphate. Yes, those who remain of the straight line or return to it. The task ahead is heavy because in an ever more deceptive world, you have to hold onto your faith. People ask, “how do I know I am on the right path?”. Delightful question. Perhaps there will be one more concluding part to this series, but for starters, maybe you can reflect on what was stated so far. Of course, you must stay on the straight path, that is your main goal and to do that, you must be informed. This whole series begged of you to learn and be informed.

The re-establishment of the Caliphate is directly linked to Palestine, Quds. Quds is indeed a sacred place. Reflecting on this point does indicate that Muslims must incline to having a caliphate. Now, much of the world is colonised. What about being mentally and intellectually colonised? Can those who are colonised in this manner be on the straight line in the sand?

Your Honour

Gaza is in ruins. The people are starving. What a great month have we entered so that our need for food is decreased while our spirituality and good deeds are on the increase (The Cape Muslim Dialogue: The Freezer is Full (capemuslimspeak.blogspot.com)). A month in which Quran was revealed and a month is which the pivotal battle of Badr took place.

The Quran was revealed and how privileged are we to be Muslim with the Quran as our guide. The Quran is the book of truth, preserved by the Almighty Allah Himself. From what is apparent, a means of preservation of Quran is through the memorisation of Quran by millions of people, many who reside in Gaza. Quran and sunnah are our identity as Muslims. Had it therefore not been for the revelation of Quran, we may have been lost. But Allah in His infinite mercy revealed Quran to us via Prophet Muhammad , who was sent as a mercy to the world. If there is anything to celebrate and commemorate, then it is the revelation of Quran. The month of Ramadan is honoured because of Quran. Shall we then not also seek to gain honour by making Quran our companion for life. Ramadan is the training ground and what better time than in this glorious month, to take another step to cement your bond with Quran. You have been favoured by Allah to be Muslim, because eemaan (faith) is a gift from Allah.

There were tough times in the early days of Islam. One such day was the Battle of Badr when 313 poorly armed Muslims faced the mighty Quraysh (1000 strong) in the month of Ramadan. Allah granted the Muslims victory that day. Would Islam have survived had the Muslims lost? The importance of this victory is so far-reaching that it simply had to happen. For the Muslim, there is no victory without Allah. This month, and the immediate situation we are all aware of, has a level of significance more than we may have experienced before. Surely Allah will not let a people in the lands in which is Quds, be completely wiped out? Those people have Jannah (paradise) awaiting them. What about you and me? Shall we not seek honour through Quran and maximise the benefits of Ramadan as if we are partaking in Badr (in some small way)? Shall we feast while people are starving for no other reason than being Muslim? Shall we continue to neglect the Quran?

The Battle of Badr was a defining moment in the history of Islam. Shall we not make this month a defining moment too?

Can you see the victory soon

It is common in ageing to experience physical weakness and perhaps an ailment or two. Weakness of memory is fairly common. Islam has been around for many a century, but it is not Islam that is showing the signs of ageing, especially weakness, but Muslims in general. Islam is the religion and way of life ordained by Allah, the All-Powerful, the All-wise.

The world is facing many a crisis and Muslims are entirely caught up in it. Yet, except for pockets of excellence, pockets of resistance against tyranny and a small group clinging steadfastly to Quran and Sunnah, Muslims are not the dynamic ummah they ought to be. The fi li steeni issue shows some form of unity of Muslims, but without any leadership. Delving a little deeper, then the singularity of purpose, “this brotherhood of yours is one brotherhood” is tested. Muslims must be bonded under the banner of the kalima “laa ilaaha illallah Muhammad-ur-rasoolullah” but Muslims continue to look for credibility, support and legitimacy from outside. Every issue of injustice is a Muslim issue for which the ummah needs to rise and rectify. Muslims, though, continue to shout slogans and invoke the assistance of other than Allah. The discussion, debates and arguments, on the issue of the Filisteeni, in Muslim circles reflect the level of the ummah. Years of indoctrination has paid off as Muslims can, at best, shout slogans. No longer do the enemy fear the Muslims because Allah is not placed uppermost in the approach. The history of ‘Aad, Thamud and Pharoah is either forgotten or there is total ignorance on the matter. While Muslims celebrate and commemorate so many things, if they were to commemorate anything, then certainly the Battle of Badr should be on top of the list. Was it not this battle before which Prophet Muhammad pleaded with Allah for victory?

“O Allaah, grant me what You have promised me, O Allaah, give me what You have promised me. O Allaah, if this small band of Muslims perishes, You will not be worshipped on earth.” [Sahih Muslim]

Muslims have the solution and rightly claim to have it. Yet, what they have is in books while the understanding and execution of important solution are lacking. Concentrating on matters of numbers and size of gatherings without quality and wisdom is childish and lacks maturity. That people incline to such leadership is testament to their weakness. Had they stuck to the guidance of Allah, the All-Powerful, the All-Wise, then their faith will increase tremendously and be a part of the solution. The solution can entail physical involvement or supplication and pray, both fully immersed in the complete faith they have in Allah.
