The line in the sand - Part 5

Integration follows Allah’s warning in Quran that the Jews and Christians will never be satisfied with you, the Muslim, unless you follow their way of life. You pray, you fast, you give charity, you perform pilgrimage, so surely you cannot follow their way?

This is how they see it anyway and they surely want you to give up on your beliefs. However, Islam, being a complete way of life and that the role of the Muslim, as one who submits to Allah, is to establish the good and forbid the evil. That is a huge analysis on its own and a course that, if not yet designed, then must be presented to all of us. Earlier, we mentioned dress-code which should also include the term tabarruj. Many people who will claim to be hijabi’s are, in fact, not hijabi’s because they do not fulfil the criteria. Yet they still remain the target of non-Muslims and specifically, Islamophobes. Are the males in the clear concerning their dress-code? Hint: have you seen a male bowing or prostrating in prayer while their back (the awrah) is exposed? This is but an example. Are these examples an indication that, in some way, Muslims are sinful in these aspects and incline to practices conflicting with Allah’s laws? Does not the honey that satan has placed before you, then grow tentacles? How much more do Muslims imitate non-Muslims, and then look for loopholes to do so? Music? Besides listening to it, attending concerts, promoting it, being well versed in the lyrics while, by their actions, taking Quran for a joke.

Marriage: the path to it, the preparation for it and understanding the rights of husband and wife. Do you not find, very often, that people quote non-Muslims on the rights of the spouses while what is quoted is contrary to Islam? Have we crossed that line in the sand? The list of transgressions is ever growing. Of the biggest problems that beset us, is pride. What are the reasons for this? On the one hand, we can and must question this, but, on the other hand, it is not necessary to wait to find all the answers and then get into a state of analysis paralysis. Rather, the simple answer is that a simple question must be asked: “Am I Muslim?”. From this will spring forth other simple questions and answers. Islam is easy. What does it entail to be a Muslim? What is the purpose of life (on earth)? From where do I take my knowledge? And a few more questions like that. Those with pride will justify clinging to every deviating path, at the head of which is a satan. Those who humble themselves before Allah, will strive to follow our illustrious leader, teacher and guide, sent by Allah Almighty. We make no apologies for being Muslim and holding firmly onto the rope of Allah and being a follower of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

Reflect and connect with true guidance. Unlearn and relearn. Imbibe the knowledge that will grant success, in this world and beyond. Be constantly aware of that line in the sand that you stay on the path of guidance. Ditch pride to the extent that people might mock you for not being fashionable, for not being with it or even for not being traditional. Act only for Allah’s sake and always call to His guidance in the best manner possible.

Rewind and Repeat

History is nothing but stories until you become part of it and live it. Sure, there are stories, then there are stories. People incline to stories of gossip, the majority anyway, while few incline to stories of the Prophets, of the Banee Israel and the history that followed those periods.
There is not a story in Quran but that it has meaning for us today. And so too are there many historical events that followed that should be lesson to us. But history is boring except when it repeats itself and you are caught in the middle of it all. The latest round of Islamophobia in England is not totally unexpected. And as you can guess there is a clear Zionist link. Are we not warned about people who are intent to spread mischief throughout the earth? It is worth noting two points about people, and in this case the Islamophobes. One is that many, the vast majority, are ignorant about Islam. The second is that people lack principles and are easily bought, be it one or both of power and money. It is therefore important to firstly reflect on yourself and ensure that your principles are intact. These principles include not being involved in betrayal and, secondly, not being reckless and acting outside the bounds of Islam. Indiscriminate retaliatory action is being undisciplined.
Did you know that Islam, Christianity and Judaism forbid usury (interest). Yet today interest is the cornerstone of the system in which we live. Quran commands us to eat healthy, linking doing otherwise as following the footsteps of satan. Here we are with junk food being the staple diet of the vast majority. Certainly, even though you are transgressing the laws of Islam, it will not be enough (for the enemies of Islam) except that you leave the religion of Islam. As mentioned before, what you do today will determine your religion tomorrow and so too that of your offspring. The killing of Sheikh Ismail Haniyeh was a betrayal in one way or another. That means there is infiltration by the enemy at the highest level. Therefore, the acquiring of solid Islamic knowledge, a watertight belief system and strong eemaan (faith in Allah) – which requires the active disbelief in speech and action of anything or anyone other than Allah. The demise of the caliphate was largely due to infiltration by the enemy.  Then see what happened, not to long ago, in Bosnia. See what is happening in Tajikistan with the hijab ban. The subject of hijab is a topic on its own because it is one of the key instructions of Quran abandoned or misunderstood in its proper application. Should all Muslim women who adorn the hijab be referred to us nuns to avoid the Islamophobic reaction to the dress-code?
History has a way of repeating itself. Learn it, understand it and reflect upon it.

Islamophobic Olympics

Your life is shaped by what you did yesterday and how it continues depends on what you do today. No, this is not that kind of motivational note but do read on. The world is shaped by events of before and what tomorrow holds, depends on what happens today.

The Olympics is currently being held in France, the breeding ground of the Crusaders, with one theme being Islamophobia. There is, of course, the overall attack on religion. Islamophobia is driven by whatever propaganda they can push out. One important historical point to note is that the Crusades were driven by Islamophobes. At that point in time, people in Western Europe were not really Christian but had to be because of feudalism. Their understanding of their own religion was sub-minimal.  Driven by economics and hunger for power, uncivilised Western Europe had to transform. It was therefore easy to round up thousands of men to fight. Hardly understanding their own religion, they were fed garbage about Islam to make Muslims the enemy and give them more reason to fight. Millions died because of the crusades with Crusaders killing Christians too. This is an example of Islamophobia in Europe. These same lies about Islam is still spread today and even with information available at everyone’s fingertips, Islamophobes are still created because it is part of the teaching of other religions. Atheists will criticise and oppose every religion but still are harshest against Islam, because of the ready disinformation being spread.

The Olympics is in full swing and Islamophobic France, the hosts, still have the attention of Muslims as interested viewers of the event. That you cheer Muslim participants in the event is no justification. The picture is starker than you think. How you deal with Islamophobia will determine how you practise your religion tomorrow and will determine the religion of your children. The recent past has much evidence of single acts of Islamophobia to wars against Muslims. Know your history and prepare yourself well for tomorrow by your action today.

Death is certain and if you are a believer, then Allah reminds you to be Allah-conscious and that when you meet with death, you do so while you have eemaan (faith in Allah).

 PS! effectively, genocide was celebrated.

On a point of Hijab

It is a fact that madaris (plural of madrassah - "Islamic" school) are empty. Everyone stops learning at a young age because we really are busy people. We end up learning from titbits and most of our religious education is not actually obtained from people more knowledgeable than ourselves.

The aspect or issue of hijab is quite interesting as certainly everyone has an opinion on it. Opinions range from it is in my heart, to wearing a scarf, to wearing pants to "I don't care". The issue of Niqaab we will bypass that for today. The issue of hijab is ongoing and people feel proud that they wear hijab. There is agreement that it is a requirement but the application may not meet the requirement. The argument is that "she has a view, I have a view and you have a view". Well, honestly, I don't have a view. And therein lies the crux. We believe that we can have a view or opinion on matters of the deen. This is a recipe for dispute (and disaster) at every level and a time when the ignorant find a voice. I have merely used hijab as an example of how we treat matters of the deen.

There are two primary sources - Quran and Sunnah - and that remains our first port of call. We can debate about issues of deen, till the cows come home, but if there is no reference to the primary sources of knowledge then the argument or debate is futile. There are of course matters where we refer to consensus of scholars but for the most part, all our fundamental matters are dealt with in Quran and Sunnah. The point that one can have an opinion on aspects of deen makes you a scholar of Islam. Nonetheless, the opinion of anyone cannot contradict Quran and Sunnah. Few people will read this, or will want to understand this or will share this, yet they will be in disobedience to our Creator by acting on wrong information when they have an opportunity to seek true guidance or they will speak on matters and advise others while they themselves are ignorant.

The next time you say "I am dressed appropriately", then ask yourself according which Islamic ruling which you got from which source. This actually applies to anything that you think you are doing right but have not thought about the fact that you may actually have followed another blindly without reference to Allah and His Messenger ﷺ.

And Allah knows best
